European Leaders Condemn US Move as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe including Emmanuel Macron accused Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, after the visa restrictions targeted individuals who have been at the heart of campaigns to enact legislation governing American tech companies.
“For too long, European activists have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” stated a senior US official in a social media post. “This government will no longer tolerate such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials supported France in condemning the decision.
